Winner of the 2010 Christian Book Award:
One Step Beyond by Gram Seed
Gram Seed’s book ‘One Step Beyond’, published by CWR, won the title of ‘Ultimate Christian Library Book’ at the Christian Resources Award Ceremony at Sandown on Tuesday 11th May. Gram was there to receive the award and was speechless with delight.
Gram’s book is a pithy telling of his life’s decline into crime, homelessness and near death - but it was turned around when God got involved through Christian visitors praying at his deathbed. The public voted on a short list of five books and ‘One Step Beyond’ emerged a clear winner. All the shortlisted books would have sat well on a library bookshelf but everyone likes a bad boy turned good story and public voting reflected this.

This award is the first time Speaking Volumes, the sponsor of the awards, has focused on what really makes a good Christian book for a public library. ‘Most Christian books are written for a Christian audience but we wanted to find a book that would sit comfortably on a library shelf and appeal to everyone’ explained the Director of Speaking Volumes, Paula Renouf. Speaking Volumes runs a scheme to help churches donate Christian books to public libraries.
CWR, publishers of the book and its sequel ‘It Must Be Love’ were equally delighted. Lynette Brooks, Director of Publishing for CWR, explained ‘It’s important that stories like Gram’s are told because it shows there is hope for anyone who puts their faith in God, even those who have reached rock bottom.’
The book 'One Step Beyond' has been an inspiration to many, as has 'It Must Be Love'. Both can be purchased here.
